Ajmer, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has said that mobile phone technology is a revolution in itself. Youth and students should utilise it for things and works better for the country and the society. Its misuse could lead us to a catastrophe as well, he added.
Gehlot was addressing the gathering of children Baal Sangam, at Ajmer on Monday. This congregation was a part of the series of events during the Child Rights Week on the occasion of 130th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru. He asked the children to focus on their education. In the changing times, he suggested, it was indeed required for the women to shed away the practice of putting veil on their face.
During the event, the CM inaugurated the skill development training programmes at Ajmer, Udaipur, Bikaner and Kota. He felicitated the organizations and persons donating for the government-run child care homes and distributed prizes to the meritorious girls and boys. The Chief Minister also released skill development training modules as well as publicity material about the protection of child rights. He distributed scooty and bicycle to the girls.
Gehlot said that in today's world the knowledge was power. Its proper and positive use could do wonders for betterment of human civilization, while its misuse could be disastrous. He gave the example of use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes like power generation or other development works and added that its misuse could lead to the tragedies like those in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Talking about the contribution of Pt. Nehru in the development of the country, the CM said that he remained in jail for 10 years during the struggle for freedom of our nation. Later, as the Prime Minister, he laid the foundation of Modern India by setting-up the educational institutes like the AIIMS, IITs or IIMs along with a series of big dams and factories etc. He said that serious efforts were needed to share these facts and information with the new generation.
Gehlot said that the state government was empowering the girls and women by training them for self-defence. He said that during his second stint as the Chief Minister, Rajasthan was the first state in the country to have a separate department for child rights. He appealed the union government to establish the Department for Child Rights all across the states. He suggested the teachers to deal with their pupil very delicately. He said that children will become what their teachers would make them. He asked the teachers to teach good habits and given samskars to the children.
Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Master Bhanwar Lal Meghwal said that the Child Rights department was very active and live in regard to the protection of child rights. An innovative idea of imparting skill development training to the children residing in child care homes, he added.
On this occasion, Medical & Health Minister Dr. Raghu Sharma, Mines Minister Pramod Jain Bhaya, Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment Rajendra Singh, Minister of State for Medical and Public Relations Dr. Subhash Garg. Chairperson of State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Sangeeta Beniwal, other public representatives and general public was present.
